Mark Barrett    

Group CEO

Mark Barrett joined SBV Services on the 1st of April 2015 as Managing Director, South Africa and brings with him a wealth of expertise in the cash services sector. Over the last 12 years he has held various positions at Standard Bank in senior management and executive capacities.

Mark’s most recent role as the Head of Business Transformation and Operations PBB ROA involved the overall executive responsibility for Business Transformation across 15 countries for PBB ROA and for PBB Operations for the same countries. He has also served on the SBV Board of Directors since 2006 as was elected as Chairman in March 2014.

Mark has a working history of driving change processes and in mentoring and guiding teams to lead change, he was intensively involved in re-shaping Standard Bank’s cash business in his role as Director of Cash Services. He has extensive experience in re-structuring businesses and in all aspects of outsourcing and negotiations.

Prior to serving Standard Bank, Mark’s career extends to the printing industry where he held various strategic roles in the capacities of Managing Director and Production Director.

Mark holds various qualifications including an MBA from Henley Management College and is a member of the Institute of Directors. He is highly driven, hardworking and holds a successful track record. He has a passion for people underpinned by a leadership philosophy in empowering people and leading from the front.

As SBV paves the way for significant growth over the next two to three years, Mark is optimistic about the opportunities that lie ahead. He looks forward to playing a key leadership role as the company faces extensive opportunities in a dynamic business landscape.

Ravina Reddy

Group Executive: Human Resources and Corporate Relations

Ravina joined SBV Services in 2005 taking on the role of General Manager, Human Resources. In 2009 the Communications function was added to her portfolio and subsequently she was promoted to Group Executive of Human Resources and Corporate Relations. Her career at SBV Services has seen her through an interesting and challenging journey where she has had to establish the acceptance of the Human Resources discipline as an integral partner to the business. Ravina has been responsible for providing the strategic direction of the Human Resources role to align the company with Corporate Governance standards together with the marketing and communications portfolios. Ravina also acts as Company Secretary.

An extensive portfolio includes various positions held at Vodacom and Telkom as Executive Head of Human Resources North (Acting), HR Manager, and Buyer. After spending four years within procurement and finance roles, Ravina can boast a ten year successful track record coupled with progressive promotions as an HR generalist in the services sector and has been exposed to complex working environments that have been characterised by constant change and rapid growth.

Ravina has a B Tech in Human Resources Management from UNISA as well as a National Diploma in Human Resources Management from Technikon South Africa. She has complemented these with a Management Development Programme from UNISA and a Diploma in Labour Law from GIMT.

Sanjay Moothiram

Chief Information Officer

Sanjay is a visionary technology professional with considerable experience in leading technology divisions at high profile companies within the corporate sector. Sanjay’s portfolio extends to Africa, Denmark and Norway and his key strengths lie in his ability to adapt technology solutions to meet business imperatives as well as his ability to transition smoothly between strategy, detailed technology and business views.

Sanjay has over 20 years’ experience and holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics together with a Master of Business Leadership. He is a strong leader with a passion for mentoring and building high performing teams.

Pieter Steyn

Financial Director

Pieter Steyn is a commercially-savvy Chartered Accountant who has held key senior positions within the banking, IT, motor, property and manufacturing industries. He has also held several roles in Auditing, Risk Management and Financial Modelling and Analysis. Pieter’s portfolio extends to several countries in Africa where he has been responsible for projects within the banking sector.

Pieter holds a Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree and a certificate in Theory of Accounting, he is also a qualified Chartered Accountant (SA) and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting. His qualifications are complemented by several certifications with the Barclays Training Academy, the Gordon Institute of Business Science and Mindcor. With over 20 years’ of leadership experience, Pieter has an excellent track record in mergers, restructures and acquisitions as well as in improving businesses’ performance and in turning around financial performance. Pieter has been a member of the Barclays Africa’s Business Banking Africa Exco and Chairing Committee and also held several key Senior Leadership positions.

Hamilton Melane   

Executive: Cash Processing

Hamilton joined SBV on the 24th of November 2014 and is recognised as an expert in South Africa’s cash industry.  He played a significant role within ABSA’s cash portfolio where he has contributed towards the achievement of a clean risk audit, successfully headed up the rollout of the new Mandela Note Series, achieved substantial cost savings through the implementation of various systems and also implemented cash automation and integrated management systems. His experience extends to product development, process engineering, operations management and operations excellence techniques.

Hamilton is passionate about people and has held various leadership roles. In recognition of his contribution to leadership, he received the ABSA Chairman’s Award on leadership. As a dynamic and motivated individual he has a broad portfolio in new business development and customer relationship management. Hamilton holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering.

Derek Singh

Executive: Risk & Compliance and Infrastructure

Derek has over 30 years of leadership, management and operational experience in banking operations. Prior to joining SBV Services in November 2014 he was a member of the Absa Cash Solutions Exco, as the Head of Cash Supply Chain and ATM Operations. Guided by Derek’s leadership, his team successfully delivered exceptionally high standards in ATM performance. Derek’s leadership style is motivational with a flexible outlook; he believes in working as a team in pursuit of a common cause. His success as a leader is attributed to the humility of past failures, successes and the learning that comes with experience.

Having completed an MBA with a dissertation in Change Implementation together with experience at a senior level in Change implementation, he is a firm believer in the principle that People are any organization’s greatest assets. Derek’s portfolio is extensive, he was previously the Head of Risk, Control and Conformance on the Absa Cash Solutions Exco where his team played an instrumental role in overhauling the risk management capability of the Division to industry leading levels. Prior to his tenure in the Cash space, he made significant contributions to turning around the operations of Absa Debtor Finance as the Head of Operations.

Shaun Nicholls

Executive: Business Transformation and Industry

Having a comprehensive portfolio in Information Systems, Banking, Retail, FMCG, logistics and project management; Shaun’s expertise is complemented by strong problem solving, analytical, strategic management, communication and coaching skills. He joined the SBV Services Stratco team in July 2015 to take on the responsibility for Business Transformation in South Africa.

Shaun has held several senior positions with multi-national companies where he provided strategic direction in terms of quality control, service delivery, health and safety, people development; and established operational and business directives. He has also lead the deployment of strategic transformation programmes, implemented LEAN management processes and managed supply chains. His technical expertise is extensive including the establishment, installation and application of information infrastructure, providing technical project management support for projects on a global scale and the development of business intelligence tools.

Shaun has over 16 years’ experience and holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Informatics together with several technical, systems, people management and quality control qualifications. He has a passion for the planning and implementation of creative solutions in problem-solving as well as the training and coaching of teams.
