Houghton, 29 July 2026  – SBV Services (SBV) confirms that a tragic accident occurred in the morning of the 29th of July 2026 involving two SBV cash-in-transit vehicles and a passenger vehicle. The accident occurred on the N2 near Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape, resulting in the tragic loss of life of a member of the public travelling in the passenger vehicle. Several SBV employees also sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment and support.

Mark Barrett, Group CEO of SBV Services says, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of life resulting from this tragic accident. On behalf of management, I extend our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time.

Our thoughts are with our team members and their families as they navigate the physical and emotional impact of this traumatic event. We wish them a full and speedy recovery. “

As a responsible corporate citizen, SBV is treating this matter with the utmost seriousness and is cooperating fully with the relevant authorities as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident continue. Our immediate focus remains on supporting those affected and their families.

We extend our gratitude to the Medical and Emergency Response teams, and the authorities who are at the site of the accident and are working tirelessly to help all of those injured, the SBV Operations team from the Port Elizabeth Centre, and to the Risk and senior leadership team who were quick to respond and provide their assistance.
